The AMF Sur-Trek was an amphibious all-terrain vehicle built for a few years in the 1970s by AMF and also by York Industries. It is an articulated machine, steering by bending in the middle, with drive to all eight wheels.
Design
The Sur-Trek consists of two linked units, each carrying two people, for four occupants in all. The engine sits in the front part of the rear unit. As delivered it had a 300 cc JLO engine and a transmission with high, low and reverse. Like other small amphibious ATVs of the period it was intended to go almost anywhere, including across water.
Survivors
The archive's information comes from a 2005 online auction of an example sold without its engine; the seller noted that it had last run with a Polaris 440 cc snowmobile engine fitted, and that he knew of two more that might come up for sale.
