The Amphibicar was a home-built amphibious car presented on its own small website, Amphibicar.com. The builder's idea was simple: take the chassis of a Volkswagen Beetle and set it into a 15-foot (about 4.6 m) Starcraft boat hull.
The site invited visitors to follow the project and showed two sets of pictures: the assembly of the vehicle, with the VW chassis prepared for fitting, and sea trials held in January 2001, when the car was launched down a ramp, floated and was driven back out. The photographs in the archive follow this sequence, from the bare chassis and the boat to the launch and recovery.
No technical details beyond the VW chassis and the 15-foot boat are given in the archive material.
