The Hydro Traxx is a six-wheeled amphibious all-terrain vehicle with hydrostatic drive. In 1999 the makers wrote to the archive asking to be included in its listing of amphibious vehicles, and sent a picture.
Design
A 42 hp Nissan four-cylinder engine drives a main hydraulic pump, which powers a separate hydraulic drive motor on each of the six wheels. An example offered on eBay in October 2004 had a full roll cage, pressure relief valves, a skid plate and a bilge pump. It could carry seven people, and came with a set of tracks that fit over the wheels as well as its tyres.
Use
The 2001 machine sold in 2004 had belonged to a sheriff's search-and-rescue unit, which had used it very little and kept it well maintained.
