La Tortuga II was the second amphibious Ford GPA converted by the travel writers Frank and Helen Schreider, after their first La Tortuga had taken them the length of the Americas. With their dog Dinah they used it to explore India and to hop between the Indonesian islands as far as Timor.

The Schreiders wrote a book about the journey, but according to the archive's notes the vehicle stays in the background there, with only one picture. Their National Geographic articles of October 1960, May 1961 and August 1962 are a better source, with many colour photographs of La Tortuga II. The archive's photographs show the jeep being lifted by crane, its interior, and the vehicle in the water and on land, including on a bridge and winching from a tree. There is also a model.
