The Water Beetle is an amphibious Volkswagen Beetle built in 1990 by the Lothians Volkswagen Club in Scotland. The club made it to celebrate 100 years of the Forth Rail Bridge, as one engineering achievement honouring another.

Use

The car has been out many times since. One outing the club remembers well was a protest crossing at the Skye Bridge. Drivers resented the toll on the newly built bridge, which the club put at about 8 euros for a 70 m trip, and the club made its point by crossing the water in the Water Beetle instead.
