The Marnandea amphibious motor yacht was a 44 ft (13.4 m) "four-wheel-drive motor yacht" built by Marnandea Motor Yacht Co. of Boise, Idaho, and featured in Boat International magazine in 1996. A photograph of it reached the archive in 2003 by way of the French enthusiast Claude Cathala.

The company

Ron Costa telephoned the company in June 2003 and spoke to its president. He was told that the 1996 vessel still existed but was not in working order, and that it was the only one built. The firm said it was still actively working on 44 ft amphibians. A new design would have one large diesel for driving on land, through the front wheels only, and three high-speed diesels for the water with a form of tunnel drive. It would be "very fast" afloat and weigh under 26,000 lb (about 11.8 tonnes). Prices were to start at US$1.3 million and each build would take two years. The company refused to share information with anyone who had not proved they could buy one, did no advertising and had no website.
