The Martin Machine and Welding amphibious vehicle was a one-off amphibian advertised on eBay Motors in August-September 2002 by a seller in Halstead, Kansas. According to the listing, it had been professionally built by Martin Machine and Welding, Inc.
Design
An 80 hp Fiat diesel engine drives three hydrostatic pumps. These feed hydraulic motors that turn the differentials. The vehicle has power steering, and in the water a propeller, both driven and steered by a hydraulic motor, pushes it along.
Condition
The seller described it as about 95% complete: the vehicle ran and floated, but some wiring and small items were still to be finished. It was not road-registered, though the seller thought it could be licensed in most states without much work. It was promoted as an ideal go-anywhere machine for hunters and farmers.
