The MOAN (apparently from moto anfibia) was an amphibious motorcycle designed and built by Antonio Martínez Carmona of Valencia, Spain, reportedly in 1956. Two were said to have been made. One sank during testing; the other belongs to a private collector and has covered only 7 km.
A period film shows it ridden by Jose Sambeat in the Valencia lagoon (the Albufera). It enters the water at a sluice, sinks to its fuel tank, but keeps going through the mud and water weed. A Spanish blogger believed it was based on a Derbi motorcycle. The engine was kept running by sealing it and fitting a snorkel, and the exhaust pressure kept water out of the pipe.
