Specifications need checking. Some figures here were taken from the archive and have not been confirmed against a source.
The Peerless was a six-wheel-drive amphibious all-terrain vehicle that looked very much like the better-known Amphicat. According to the seller of one example in 2004, the makers of the Amphicat sued the company for copying their design and won, forcing it out of business; only five machines are said to have been built. These claims were passed on second-hand and the seller was not even sure of the spelling of the name.
Design
The example offered had a Sachs SA290 engine with electric start and a recoil starter as back-up, and a transmission with high, low and reverse. It ran on balloon tyres and had a moulded tub; the seller described a crack in the rear repaired with metal and glass fibre. Head and tail lights were fitted.
