The Phantom was an amphibious conversion invented by Alfred Kang of Seattle, Washington, who also developed a fast planing speedboat. He described it as a prototype built for patent and testing purposes. In 2001 he offered it for sale on Hans Rosloot's amphibious-vehicle advert pages while looking for business partners in Asia.

Design

The "Phantom Amphibious Lift-Kit", installed in 1999, was fitted to a monster truck based on a 1976 Chevrolet 4x4 pickup. It used large water tyres with attachable paddles to drive the truck through the water, and "balancers" to keep it stable. The inventor's online photo album showed the building process and the truck driving in the water. The vehicles were built and tested on Puget Sound.
