The floating Suzuki Samurai was a home-made experiment by Rick Rogers of Grants Pass, Oregon. He fitted pontoons to a Suzuki Samurai 4x4 and launched it into a lagoon behind his house. It was written up, with tongue firmly in cheek, on the Vintage Suzuki website.
Trial
With a rope tied to the back in case it sank, Rogers drove the Samurai into the water. Pushed along by its wheels, it made headway, but at first there was almost no directional control. Rogers found it went forward better in two-wheel drive, though the writer said it still steered "like a Ferrari with four flat tires". It carried a passenger across the lagoon. Getting out was harder: the front tyres dug into the bank until the axle caught, and the car had to be towed out with a strap.
