The Seamaster S2 is a series of multi-role amphibious vehicles from Sealander Marine. They combine a strong base vehicle with interchangeable specialist modules for carrying passengers, cargo or vehicles, and for fire fighting, oil-spill response, field-hospital work and rescue. The design is deliberately simple and robust so it can be maintained easily with readily available spares.
The Seamaster is 10.0 m long with a 3.6 m beam and can carry more than 40 passengers or 6,000 kg of cargo.
The first Seamaster
The original vehicle ferries up to 46 passengers between the mainland and a small island off the Cornish coast, St Michael's Mount. Its owners wanted a lifeline that could keep running when their fleet of small passenger boats could not put to sea. It was built with twin engines, two hydraulic boarding stairways and a lift for disabled passengers that doubles as a cargo platform.
