The Baier midget amphibious car was developed by Karl Baier in West Berlin. An Associated Press photograph of 22 January 1952 shows Baier at the wheel, with a passenger, testing it on the Havel where the Havelchaussee meets Am Postfenn. The restaurant ship Alte Liebe is visible in the background. Baier simplified the construction by placing the engine, steering, gearbox, clutch, all cables and even the brakes inside the body, where they were protected from the water. Nothing further is recorded in the archive.
