The CT&T amphibious electric vehicle is a compact four-seater from the South Korean electric-vehicle company CT&T, shown at the Detroit motor show alongside the firm's C2 open two-seater sports car and a small city car. CT&T was founded by a former Hyundai executive and at the time claimed to be the world's largest electric-vehicle manufacturer, with plants in Korea and China and a US factory planned.
Design
The vehicle is driven by a seven-kilowatt electric motor fed by a lead-acid battery pack. A Gizmag report gives a top speed of 40 mph (about 64 km/h) on land, with a range of 80 miles, and 10 mph (about 16 km/h) on water.
The specification cards on the show stand gave different figures, including an improbable 95 mph on water; after talking to the company, the reporter concluded that the cards had been garbled in translation and that the lower figures were correct.
