The Amphibug was an amphibious leisure vehicle marketed by Electric Fun Company Ltd., a firm that built electric vehicles for amusement parks and similar attractions.
Design
The company bought an empty 'Max' amphibian body and fitted it with its own twin electric drive (motors and controllers). The driver steered with a joystick, while staff on shore could take over by remote control if needed.
History
In a 2002 message to the archive owner, the company explained that the Amphibug had just been shown at a trade fair in Orlando, where it drew strong interest, especially from zoos wanting to give visitors a water-level view of crocodiles, hippos and other animals.
Related vehicle
The same firm also offered the Crococart, a one-person amphibious vehicle for children. It was controlled by two joysticks, one for each side's drive, and had two propellers that started turning automatically once it entered the water.
