The Krupp Amphitruck AT400 was a large amphibious truck first shown in spring 1980. A correspondent told the archive that it was developed by the Krupp subsidiary B. Wolf AG in partnership with Carl Kaelble GmbH, the heavy-vehicle maker.
Design
The vehicle was about 13 m long and 4 m high. It had four-wheel drive and very high ground clearance. In the water it was steered by a single central rudder-propeller under the driver's cab, which gave it good manoeuvrability. Because of where that propeller sat, the truck travelled backwards when afloat.
The archive has no other details about this vehicle, such as how many were built.
