The PZInż.130 was a Polish amphibious light tank. In 1932 Vickers demonstrated its Carden-Loyd amphibious tank in Poland, where it swam the Vistula at Modlin. In 1933 the army's engineering department proposed buying one for evaluation, but there was no money. Poland decided to develop its own amphibious tank instead, to a specification from the armoured-weapons testing centre (BBT BP). In 1935 the State Engineering Works (PZInż.) was commissioned to design it, sharing components with a 4-ton reconnaissance tank. The army expected to use such tanks mainly in the roadless swamps, rivers and lakes of Polesie in eastern Poland, where ordinary tanks could hardly move.
