The Sabiex Iguana is a wheeled armoured vehicle presented by SABIEX International S.A. on its 2003 website. It was developed using CAD modelling and offered with an amphibious option.

Design

The hull is a welded monocoque of ballistic steel, giving protection against 7.62 x 51 mm ball ammunition at 30 m, with add-on armour kits raising this to 14.5 mm armour-piercing rounds at 200 m. The non-amphibious version is also protected against a TM57 mine under any wheel. The vehicle can be fitted with overhead weapon stations or anti-tank missile launchers; standard armament is a 7.62 mm machine gun, with smoke grenade launchers as required.

The Iguana uses a multi-link hydro-pneumatic suspension on beam axles with large-diameter wheels and long travel for off-road work. Power comes from a 160 kW (215 hp) Daimler-Chrysler intercooled turbo-diesel driving through a five-speed automatic gearbox and two-speed transfer case, with a central differential and diff locks. Disc brakes with ABS, run-flat tyres with central tyre inflation, air conditioning and an integrated NBC system are fitted. It carries a crew of 1+1+6.

The vehicle is 4.65 m long and 2.45 m wide, weighs 8,500-10,000 kg in combat trim, reaches 108 km/h and has a road range of 600 km (800 km is claimed elsewhere on the site).

Amphibious version

The amphibious option is prepared for two waterjets of 50 kW each.
