The Solo 750 is a six-wheel-drive amphibious all-terrain vehicle built in Germany in the 1970s by the company Solo. The archive has two eBay listings, from 2003 and 2004, both for vehicles built in 1976.
History
One seller said the vehicle was designed for the German army (Bundeswehr), which never bought it, so it never went into mass production. He put the total at 96. Of these, he said, 50 went to Libya, 6 sank when they were dropped by parachute on an Antarctic expedition, and about 40 were sold normally. The other seller believed about 120 had been built and that most were in collectors' hands. The Solos could be dropped by parachute from aircraft into the sea.
Examples
Chassis number 00037 was built in 1976, first registered for the road in 1979, and showed only 641 km and about 110 operating hours when offered in 2003. Chassis number 000034, built in September 1976, was still in original paint and road-registered, but had been off the road since 1984. Its gearbox had been overhauled about two years before it was offered for sale in 2004.
The listings give no technical specifications.
