The Adventure Duck was billed by Hubei Xinchufeng Automobile Co. as the first amphibious bus made in China. It began its maiden voyage trials at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center in Shandong province on 5 May 2009.
Design
The bus is 12 m long, 2.5 m wide and 4 m high, with a 6 m wheelbase and 10.00-20 tyres, and weighs about 10 tonnes. The waterline is 0.8-1.0 m. It is rated for 38 seated plus 10 more passengers. The driver's cab has two sets of controls, one for the road and one for the water. The layout and trim follow a normal touring coach. A locker in the tail holds the life raft and life jackets. The maker quotes 60-70 km/h on land and about 20 km/h afloat.
