In 1952 the Frenchman Georges Monneret built an amphibious Vespa scooter to take part in the Paris-London rally. He crossed the English Channel on it in style, and according to the Danish scooter page saved in the archive, his crossing added to political pressure for a tunnel to be built under the Channel.
The archive holds a single picture of the machine afloat, taken from that page, which otherwise deals with various unusual scooters.
