The shellfish farmers of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel use wheeled amphibious barges to cross the vast tidal flats to their beds offshore. As described in comments saved with one photograph, they are used to travel out to the beds, harvest the shellfish and carry them back to the sorting sheds on shore. One commenter, who identified himself as the builder of the pictured barge, said it was built in 2000 and is used for the bay's renowned AOC-labelled mussel harvest. Several further photographs in the folder were taken at Le Vivier-sur-Mer, a mussel-farming port on the bay.
